The Economic Burden of Skin Cancer in Canada

A new report, The Economic Burden of Skin Cancer in Canada: Current and Projected, examines melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer and explores how a comprehensive cancer prevention program could help reduce the number of cases and deaths, and the costs associated with the disease. The report was sponsored by the National Skin Cancer Prevention Committee, on which the CSPA has representation. Read report.

Genes found that underly cause of Alopecia

Researchers have implicated eight genes in the development of alopecia areata, a disorder that causes hair to thin and fall out. The genes are already associated with other autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and type 1 diabetes, meaning that drugs may already be in teh pipeline that could benefit people with hair loss.
