We, two vitiligo patients, are in the process of establishing a national vitiligo group in Canada under the umbrella of the Canadian Skin Patient Alliance. The mandate of this group will be to develop awareness of the condition, provide support for the vitiligo community and to develop research initiatives. There’s a spot under Andrew Gosse’s fingernail, almost unnoticeable unless he points it out. But for Gosse, it’s a reminder of how his life has changed drastically since he started taking a new medication for plaque psoriasis about three years ago. It also reminds him that his psoriasis will come back if he stops taking the medication. Gosse, a realtor from Paradise, is candid when he talks about the things he’s gone through since being diagnosed at 17.

Province of British Columbia Pharmacare approves Biologics for Plaque Psoriasis
The CSPA is very pleased to report that BC Pharmacare has joined most of the other provinces in Canada ( except PEI) in adding biologics for psoriasis to their formulary. The CSPA thanks all the dermatologists and patients who helped take the message to the BC decision-makers that skin patients in BC should be treated on par with other patients. BC patients who qualify can now apply via their dermatologist for these treatments. Note that BC, like many other provinces, still places considerable restrictions on access.
Victoria man speaks out about skin disease
Life as a teenager was hell for Kevin Ashley. That's when psoriasis appeared on his body.
The itchy, scaly skin disease that crept over his arms and legs made stripping for gym class or swim lessons torture. As an adult he refused to wear shorts and tank tops in the summer.
Even on a vacation to the Caribbean with close friends he wore long pants on the beach....
