Province of British Columbia Pharmacare approves Biologics for Plaque Psoriasis
The CSPA is very pleased to report that BC Pharmacare has joined most of the other provinces in Canada ( except PEI) in adding biologics for psoriasis to their formulary. The CSPA thanks all the dermatologists and patients who helped take the message to the BC decision-makers that skin patients in BC should be treated on par with other patients. BC patients who qualify can now apply via their dermatologist for these treatments. Note that BC, like many other provinces, still places considerable restrictions on access. However BC has approved all 4 biologics ( Embrel, Remicade, Humira and Stelara) , while some other provinces ( Ontario, Nova Scotia, PEI and Manitoba) still only cover some. The CSPA will continue to represent the interests of psoriasis patients across the country by advocating for access to all Health Canada-approved treatments and medications that a dermatologist would reasonably prescribe.
